Protolab has a small fleet of 3d printers. We have 3 Printrbot Simple Metal printers onsite, as well as a massive Airwolf3D HD. 

Printrbot Simple Metal (x2)

The everyday PLA prototyping machine.

  • Build Area: 150mm x 150mm x 150mm (6x6x6 inches if you still can't handle metric)

  • Print Speed: 80mm/sec max recommended

  • Filament: 1.75mm PLA Only
  • Nozzle: 0.4mm (good general purpose nozzle size, balancing print speed and precision)

 

Printrbot Simple Metal with Heated Build Plate (x1)

Same as the printers above, but with a heated plate. This allows printing with ABS. We've also upgraded the extruder to be able to feed flexible filaments, this combined with the heated bed allows for printing with Ninjaflex and other flexible TPE filaments.

Airwolf3D HD

The powerhouse printer that Protolab has at it's disposal. This thing is a beast, it has a massive heated build plate, and a well designed extruder that enables it to print in 15 different materials! We have plans to upgrade this printer to a high temp dual extruder so multiple colours or materials can be printed on the same model. 

  • Build Area: 300mm x 200mm x 300mm (that's 12 x 8 x 12 inches!!)
  • Max Print Resolution: 60 microns or 0.06mm
  • Print Speed: 150mm/sec max recommended
  • Heated Build Plate: YES! 
  • Filament: 1.75mm PLA, ABS, TPE, flexible PLA, laywood, laybrick and others.
  • Nozzle: 0.5mm or 0.35mm

Note: The Airwolf is on loan from another company, and operated by Protolab. As such for the time being, only Protolab staff can run prints on this machine. Never fear though, you can simply send us your file and we'll get it printing for you ASAP in your desired material and resolution.
